Because nothing speaks volumes like statistics, I have compiled a few on 3 health related crises in America today: Obesity, Smoking and Stress.

Facts

The statistics for obesity are staggering!

According to the National Center for Health Statistics in 2005-2006, over 1/3rd of American adults were obese.

In 2003-2004 — 20% of children ages 12-19 were obese.

The statistics for smoking are no better!

According to the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), 2004 — an estimated 25.1 MILLION men and 20.9 MILLION women are smokers. Percentage-wise — that equals 23.4 percent of men and 18.5 percent of women. Smoking has been linked to an increase in heart attacks and strokes along with many other health issues.

Facts on Stress!

According to the Washington Post, Jan 23, 2007 - 54% of Americans are concerned about the level of stress in their everyday lives, with 66% of Americans stating they would likely seek help for stress.

We know stress contributes to heart attack, stroke, depression, infection and chronic pain.
